ABOUT THE BOOK

For much of her teenage life Joanne was desperate for a boyfriend and searching for love. She scared away the exact same men she wanted to attract and no matter how hard she tried she couldn’t manipulate her perfect relationship into existence. That is when God intervened. Over time, God showed her how to put her love life into his hands and trust him as the creator of her heart to care for her deepest need.

Looking for Love is for those who have a deep desire to love and be loved but who have struggled to believe that desire can be filled by God. Joanne looks at the purpose for which we were made and the purpose for marriage and compares them to our needs and desires. She also considers some of the challenges young women face today as they try so desperately to do love and relationships in the right way while seeing so many examples of doing it wrong. Looking for Love offers a fresh perspective to help you focus on how God sees you, how God sees marriage and help you find the way to fulfilling the deepest desires of your heart.

Looking for Love is published by Malcolm Down Publishing and available in all good bookstores.

As a pastor I've read many books and resources for the purpose of helping people win in their relationships. Joanne's book so clearly presents God’s heart for love, relationships and marriage with honesty, humour and great application of God's word.

Looking for Love is therefore a must-read for each young person and every parent wanting to help their kids on the journey we all are on. I hope my daughters read this book one day and gain from Joanne's story.

This is a fantastic book, easy to read and refreshingly honest. Joanne understands the struggles and disappointments of looking for love but she has also learnt first-hand that God's ways are best and that His love is greater than any other. Through Joanne's story this book will help you to think about where you are looking for love, encourage you to trust God with your love life and remind you of God's wonderful love for you.

I loved the book! It answered questions that I never thought of even asking. God helped me to understand that I’m not alone and I realised that others face the same issues. Most of all, reading this book brought me closer to my heavenly Father, learning more about His love for me.

Looking for Love’ is a great book for those that have been single a short time, or for those of us that have been single for years. Joanne has a fun, personal and friendly approach in her writing and you feel like she is talking directly to you, which I loved about this book.

Joanne’s story is honest and challenging - she’s not afraid to admit her own weaknesses yet through it she shows us how Christ can take our brokenness and truly turn it around. She understands the difficulty in waiting yet spurs us on to believe that with Christ at the centre, we will be blessed in the long run, whether single or married.

It was great to hear, not only Joanne’s story, but the stories of different women that have found themselves in the single department of life. As a result, you get the feeling that to be single, is to be part of a community and that you are not alone. This is so key when much of the Church is focussed on family life.

When you feel at a loss that you don’t have your own family, Joanne reminds us that we are part of the family of God. I especially loved the fact that Joanne leaves space at the end of each chapter for reflection and prayer.

This book would make a fantastic resource for friends that want to discuss and grapple with their singleness together or for someone that wants to work through their thoughts alone.

Joanne Gilchrist's book 'Looking for Love' speaks from a new level of understanding for those who are dealing with the complex issue of pursuing a deep and personal relationship with Christ and finding a partner. Coming from a personal understanding of the Father's heart for His children, Joanne gives a clear insight into the do's and don'ts of dating in a Christian world. The book explores the normal longings of the human heart, giving insight into how Christ wants to be sufficient for all our emotional needs. From this strong basis of a relationship with our saviour, the reader is able to make decisions on how to pursue the romantic love that God intended for their lives. This book is a must read for those who are looking for love, but who have questions about the healthiest way of doing this.
